Hosted Desktop – Desktop as a Service (DaaS)

Hosted Desktop · Desktop as a Service (DaaS)

Your Whole Office, Securely Delivered to Any Device.

CMA hosts your Windows desktops, applications, and files in our Tier IV Maryland datacenter — so your team logs in from any laptop, Mac, or tablet and gets the same desktop every time, with nothing to install and nothing sensitive stored on the device.

Any device

Windows, Mac, iPad, and Android tablets — the same desktop on all of them.

Tier IV

Hosted in CMA’s Tier IV Maryland datacenter with 99.995% uptime.

24/7

Monitoring, patching, and support handled by CMA’s local team around the clock.

Per user

One predictable monthly price per user — add or remove seats as you go.

Why Hosted Desktop

Six Things That Change When the Desktop Leaves the Device

A hosted desktop moves the operating system, applications, and data off the PC and into a managed datacenter. The device becomes a window; the risk, the maintenance, and the cost move to us.

Security Moves Off the Endpoint

Company data lives in the datacenter, not on laptops that get lost, stolen, or infected. Access is controlled centrally, and a compromised device can be cut off in minutes without touching the data.

Predictable Monthly Cost

Replace capital spending on PCs, servers, and licenses with one per-user monthly fee that covers hosting, software delivery, backups, and support. Budgeting gets simpler and surprises disappear.

Scale in Hours, Not Weeks

Onboard a new hire, a contractor, or an entire acquired office by provisioning desktops — no shipping hardware, no imaging, no waiting. Remove seats just as quickly when a project ends.

One Desktop to Manage

Updates, patches, antivirus, and application rollouts happen once, centrally, and reach every user. Your team stops chasing individual machines and IT stops firefighting.

Existing Hardware Lasts Longer

Because the heavy lifting runs in the datacenter, a five-year-old laptop performs like a new one. Stretch refresh cycles and stop paying for horsepower you don’t need on the desk.

Fully Managed by CMA

Design, migration, day-to-day administration, and help desk are included. You get a working desktop for every user; we own the platform behind it — locally, from Silver Spring.

What’s Included

A Real Windows Desktop — Not a Web-Only Substitute

Users get the full desktop experience they already know. The difference is where it runs.

Full Microsoft Office

Desktop versions of Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Publisher — not the limited browser editions.

All Your Applications and Drives

Line-of-business software, mapped network drives, printers, and shared folders — everything on the PC today, not just email and SharePoint.

Your Files, Backed Up Nightly

Data stays in the datacenter with automated backups and rapid restore, so a lost laptop never means lost work.

Standardized, Secure Platform

Every user gets a consistent, hardened desktop with multi-factor authentication and centrally enforced policies.

Works From Anywhere

Office, home, hotel, client site — the same desktop follows the user over any internet connection.

Local Help Desk

Questions go to CMA’s Maryland-based team who know your environment, not a ticket queue overseas.

FAQ

Hosted Desktop, Answered

What exactly is a hosted desktop?

It’s a full Windows desktop — operating system, applications, and files — that runs on servers in CMA’s datacenter instead of on your PC. You connect to it over the internet from any device and work as if it were local. The industry term is Desktop as a Service, or DaaS.

Is it more secure than our current laptops?

For most small and mid-sized businesses, yes. Data never lives on the device, access requires multi-factor authentication, patching happens centrally, and a lost or compromised device can be locked out without affecting the data. The desktops are also covered by CMA’s 24/7 security monitoring.

Will our line-of-business software work?

Almost all standard Windows applications run without changes, including full desktop Microsoft Office, accounting and practice-management software, and anything that uses mapped drives or network printers. We test your specific applications during the assessment before anything moves.

What devices can our staff use?

Windows PCs, Macs, iPads, Android tablets, and thin clients. Because the desktop runs in the datacenter, older or lower-powered devices work well — many clients extend the life of their existing hardware by years.

What happens if the internet goes down at the office?

The desktops keep running in the datacenter, and staff can reconnect from any other connection — a hotspot, home, or another site — and pick up exactly where they left off. Nothing is lost.

How is it priced?

A flat monthly fee per user that includes hosting, backups, patching, monitoring, and help desk. Add or remove users at any time; you pay only for active seats. We’ll size it with you during a free assessment.

How long does migration take?

Most organizations move in a few weeks, in phases, with no downtime — users switch over once their desktop is ready and verified. CMA handles the data migration, application installs, and user onboarding.

Does it help with HIPAA, CMMC, or PCI compliance?

It removes one of the hardest problems — sensitive data spread across many devices — by keeping it in a single controlled environment with logging, MFA, and enforced policies. CMA’s compliance team maps the platform to your specific framework requirements.
